Stormwater Management

  • With the threat of climate change bringing both higher sea levels and more extreme weather, the island has seen more flooding than in years past — with this year’s floods tied to significant rain events where water was unable to drain from roads and properties¬† in part due to higher sea levels. In response, the Panel’s Sea Level Rise Committee has added a Stormwater Management component to its fact-finding efforts, both to determine current stormwater management activities as well as develop options to help address future flooding concerns. We expect this will be a growing concern that will eventually need its own committee to research and report.
