Wastewater alternatives study

TKW Consulting Engineers is currently conducting
a county-funded comprehensive review of Captiva's wastewater alternatives, to help the panel and the community plan
for the long-term health of the island and its surrounding waters.

Captiva Plan update

The latest revisions to the Captiva Plan hav been
adopted by Lee County and are now in effect.

Sea level rise symposium

The Captiva Community Panel hosted a sea level rise symposium in conjunction with South Seas Island Resort on Jan. 13, 2017.

Wastewater treatment

South Seas Island Resort

In an Aug. 19,2015, decision, the Lee County Zoning Director administratively OK'd the proposed amendment to the South Seas
Master Development Plan to reallocate existing housing units
to a new development on the resort's northern end.

About the panel

The Captiva Community Panel exists to serve Captiva by maintaining the historic pattern of development on this barrier island. Such historical growth has consisted of unobtrusive, low-density residential use coupled with limited commercial development and vehicular traffic. Sensitive to such common concerns, Captiva community planning is to be maintained in consideration of an environment consisting of clean offshore waters, diverse and healthy marine life and robust native vegetation.


The Captiva Community Panel is sponsored by the Captiva Property Owners Association Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit organization by IRS determination. The association is registered under account number CH28824 with the state of Florida under Chapter 496, Florida Statutes, the Solicitation of Contributions Act.
